What is the AI Register Explorer?

The AI Register Explorer is an independent, open-source data visualisation tool that makes the Government of Canada’s Artificial Intelligence Registry more accessible and searchable. It presents the same data published on open.canada.ca in an interactive interface with search, filters, charts, and CSV export.

This site is not an official Government of Canada website and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Government of Canada or any federal department. It is a personal project built to improve public access to information that is already publicly available under an open licence.

Who operates this site?

This site is operated by Scott Hazlitt, a private individual based in Manitoba, Canada, exploring what’s possible with AI-assisted coding tools. Scott is not acting on behalf of any company, government body, or organisation.

Data source & methodology

• Source: All data is fetched directly from the official Government of Canada open data API at open.canada.ca and is published under the Open Government Licence – Canada.
• Source presentation: All valid source records are available to explore. Featured examples are illustrations, not a ranking. The site formats fields and calculates counts; it displays a warning when source records cannot be included. The official record remains the authority.
• Updates: The Explorer identifies the source dataset’s published modification date separately from its own snapshot. Check the official source for the current record.
• No AI classification: Search, filters and chart counts use deterministic code and do not send records to an AI service. Development, archive illustrations and the English walkthrough use AI-assisted tools. Descriptive record text comes from the source.
• Accuracy: This tool presents source data as retrieved and does not independently verify each record. For official corrections or the current record, contact the relevant federal department or consult the source data.

Corrections, takedowns & privacy requests

Because this site presents publicly available government data in an independent explorer, requests to correct or remove specific source entries should be directed to the Government of Canada dataset maintainers via open.canada.ca.
